Wedding Photos
A brief history
Dave and Barbara met via an internet dating
site during its free trial offer in 1999.
After exchanging emails for a few weeks, they decided to meet,
following all the accepted guidelines – public place, daytime etc. They got on
really well, and four years later decided it was time to get married. Having
both been married before and having had church weddings – what could they do if
they didn’t fancy a register office wedding or a licensed venue?
The answer was quite simple in the end – get married in
Scotland ! If you have a religious service, and the minister agrees you
can be married anywhere, at any time of the day or night. Perfect.
Dave had been going to Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland with his
mates for many years, to a small cabin in the hills between Auchencairn and
Dundrennan. http://www.auchencairn.org.uk It seemed the ideal place
for a wedding with a difference – the difference being Dave and Barbara are
motorbikers and had decided to be married wearing their made to measure
leathers!

The drawbacks were the fact that The Cabin has no electricity
(strictly log fires, calor gas lighting and cooking and an oil fired rayburn)
and the only way to The Cabin was up a two mile stony track which was more
suited to off road vehicles than standard motorbikes. On the plus side there
are no neighbours for two miles, lots of stars at night, and is really back to
nature.

Luckily the owners of the cabin, friends, family and the local
Church of Scotland minister thought that the idea was a good one, so, it was
arranged for the wedding to take place on Saturday 10th May
2003. Please enjoy the photographs, we
enjoyed the day very much, as did our guests, many of whom braved the track on
their motorbikes.
Dedicated
to the very dear memory of our friend William Ewan (Paki) Paterson who gave
Barbara away.
